We continued our sermon series Keys to the Kingdom with Pastor Steve’s message “Clarity of Purpose”. We were happy to welcome musical guests Jenny Weber, piano, and Joe McClain, vocal, pictured here sharing “Open Our Eyes, Lord”. Amelia Boomershine told the story from Matthew of Jesus’ temptations in the wilderness. Before worship, the Sabbath Study, led by Amelia, looked at the Jim Crow Era. Amelia was able to lift up dreadful stories as well as hopeful ones about one of the most shameful periods of our history. Next week will be the Civil Rights Era—please come; it should be enlightening!
After worship, the HOPE and Justice group met for lunch and a powerful video of Bryan Stevenson speaking about how to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8). The food, the sharing of experiences, and the video were all nourishing.
