The season of Lent is the 40 days before Easter.  It represents the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness after he was baptized.  Lent is meant to be a period of self-examination and an opportunity to grow closer to God.  It ends with the most important day—Easter, the celebration of resurrection!  Grace has several activities scheduled during this season.  We hope you can join us!

Sunday Mornings

Worship begins at 10:30 a.m.  There is a book study at 9:15 a.m., and a coffee fellowship time at 10:00 a.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 14—ASH WEDNESDAY

There will be a simple supper at 6:00 p.m. in the Blue Room, followed by Ash Wednesday worship with the imposition of ashes at 7:00 p.m. in Bishops’ Chapel.

This is a community-wide event to raise money for the hungry and homeless.  Grace is one of the locations where a pancake brunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  100% of the proceeds are donated to local food banks and homeless shelters.

Sunday, Mar. 24—PALM SUNDAY

Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. with waving of palm branches in celebration of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

We will remember the Last Supper by worshipping with our neighbors at McKinley United Methodist Church (196 Hawthorn St., Dayton) at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, Mar. 29—GOOD FRIDAY

At 7:00 p.m. we will remember the crucifixion of Jesus.  Our Grace by Heart biblical storytellers will tell the whole story of his arrest, trial, and death.

Sunday, Mar. 31—EASTER!

Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!

Loving God, loving neighbor, living in community.

Grace Church is a faith community in the heart of Dayton seeking to follow Christ’s examples of love, peace and justice. We are a diverse urban community of persons who value connecting to God and one another. We believe that it is good to question and to seek. We may not always believe the same as one another, but the people of Grace Church believe in God’s love and one another. Grace is for everyone!

Children and Youth Ministries

Grace Church Sunday School for children and youth focuses on God’s love, God’s love of children, and God’s love of all the world.  Stories of the Old and New Testaments, as well as other materials, are used to illustrate God’s love.

Children and youth are often asked to take part in our worship services. A message targeted to young people is a regular part of our worship, and they serve as acolytes, ushers, and biblical storytellers. They are an invaluable part of our congregation. Children and youth are always welcome in worship!

Transportation to and from Grace is available for children. Call or text the Children’s Ministry Director, Marcia Byrd, at 937-361-8202, by 7:00 PM the Saturday before to be added to the transportation schedule.

Sunday morning schedule:
9:00am Bus Pickup
9:30am Breakfast
10:00am Music
10:30am Lesson (Godly play)
