Here’s a note from Pastor John:
“Daniel and Anahi Cardenas and their two small children will be with us on Sunday, September 13. I hope you will make plans to come. JoAnn and I first met Daniel in 2017. He was a seminary student in Mexico, and was given a summer internship at the church I served in Middletown. The church was so impressed we invited him back in 2022 to serve both the Spanish and English speaking members of the congregation. He brought his new wife with him, and then the two kids came, a boy and a girl. In May Daniel received a Masters of Divinity from United Theological Seminary, and a few weeks later was commissioned as a provisional elder in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. They are much beloved by all those they’ve served, including a rural congregation they started serving this past year, but even though they want to stay here in the states, and have been doing all the right things, their visas have not been renewed. They are set to leave for Mexico in November, and of course they are saddened by their impending departure, as are many others. JoAnn and I love them as well, and wanted you to meet them before they go.”
Rev. Cardenas will be our guest preacher on Sunday, September 13, and Rev. Wagner will be preaching at Rev. Cardenas’ church. We are looking forward to welcoming Rev. Cardenas and his family to Grace!
