Grace UMC has received a Mustard Seed Immigration Grant from UMCOR for $2,000 to engage in ministry to migrants and refugees in our midst. Working with the Miami Valley Immigration Coalition (MVIC), these monies will be used to support immigrant families in Montgomery County. Many families are struggling due to the fact that male breadwinners have been detained or deported and mothers are struggling to feed their children and pay rent.
MVIC has been working to support our immigrant neighbors. These families are frightened to go to the store, some have lost their jobs, and others are frightened to go to work. To help support these families, Grace UMC will collect food and Kroger gift cards for our neighbors.
Below is a list of items that would be appreciated:
Uncooked white rice
Canned fruit
Dried beans (pinto, black, etc.)
Canned black or pinto beans
Canned chicken
Cooking oil (canola or vegetable)
Plain uncooked boxed pasta
Wholesome cereal
$20 Kroger gift cards to purchase perishable items
Please bring donations to the church – there will be a box in Artist’s Hall marked “Donations for Our Immigrant Neighbors”. Please give gift cards to Cindy Cary. If you prefer to write a check to the Church for gift cards, please note that it is for the “immigrant support fund”.
If you would like to donate to MVIC, LEAD collects funds on MVIC’s behalf. Donations may be designed for a specific area (general support, accompaniment, or the deportation bond fund). To donate on-line, use this link: DONATION. Or donations may be made via mail to LEAD, 505 Riverside Dr., Dayton, OH 45405.
