The Leadership Team announced on Sunday, March 29, that the Rev. John C. Wagner, Jr., will be our new pastor effective May 1, 2026. This is a 14-month half-time appointment.
Pastor Steve had this to say about the news:
“I am absolutely delighted to hear that Reverend John Wagner will be following me as Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church. I have known John for years and have found him to be a pastor of impeccable character, deep intellect, and most importantly a deep and sincere desire to proclaim and follow Jesus. I strongly believe that John will be an excellent match in terms of theology, mission priorities, and heart for ministry.
I would also like to commend Reverend Dr. Suzanne Allen for her excellent work in finding such a great match for our congregation. It will be a delight to provide a pastoral orientation for John if he desires it.
While I experience moments of grief daily as I reflect upon my departure from Grace at the end of April, I wanted to express that I am absolutely overjoyed and it does my heart good to know that you will be in very, very good hands.”
We look forward to welcoming Pastor John to Grace, even as we are saddened to say goodbye to Pastor Steve. Please keep both of them in your prayers.
