As more children arrive every week at Grace Church, the Children’s Ministry has been restarted and re-organized. Thus far, nine adults have stepped up to assist with Children’s Ministry, and more servants are needed!
The children’s ministry area is moving back to Bishop’s Chapel, where it had resided for many years before the space had been repurposed as a pastor’s office. Shelves for Godly Play materials will be moved soon and the space will be rededicated.
“I am so excited to see both the level of interest and the variety of folks stepping up to help with children’s ministry,” remarked Pastor Steve. “It’s important to realize that children’s ministry goes far beyond people willing to teach.”
There are at least five different roles for people to take on as we help children in our community. They are:

Lead Teacher- learning and teaching curriculum

Assistant Teacher- extra adult in the room with no prep responsibilities

Driver- provides bus transportation without child responsibilities

Ridealong- provides child supervision while on the route

Organizer- maintains roster, compiles parent and child info, plans seasonal events and coordinates scheduling
The training meeting will occur on Sunday, November 2, after church. All are invited to attend. It will include an overview, teaching the Safer Sanctuaries plan, and describing roles. All who assist will be required to complete a background check.
