Grace by Heart

Rev. Tom Boomershine
On July 12, Rev. Dr. Tom Boomershine told the lesson from Mark 6:14-29.

“Grace Church is very blessed to have the “Grace by Heart” biblical storytelling ministry among us. A group of Grace Church members work hard and faithfully to learn the scriptures by heart and then tell them to the rest of us. All of us are most blessed by this ministry, but almost certainly, the most blessed persons are those who actually learn the scriptures by heart — who internalize these wonderful words, who absorb these meaningful messages. The words and messages that are in our heart are the ones we can lean on wherever we are, whatever we are doing, whatever is going on around us. We can recite them to ourselves, to our friends, and yes, even to God.”
...   Rev. Dr. Sherry Gale, Senior Pastor

Scripture lessons of Grace worship services are told by heart, not read. This distinctive ministry of the Word is performed by the biblical storytellers of Grace by Heart under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Tom Boomershine.

Grace by Heart meets monthly for potluck supper and Bible study, which is a conversation about the scriptures coming up in next month’s worship service. You are welcome to join us in fellowship and discussion whether or not you want to learn the stories by heart or tell them in worship. Everyone participates as audience members for those practicing their storytelling, and everyone benefits from time spent reflecting on the stories. For information on the next gathering, contact Rev. Amelia Cooper Boomershine at amelia@gotell.org; you may also refer to our schedule page.
