SanctuaryGrace’s present sanctuary dates from 1919, when the cornerstone was laid, and 1921, which saw opening services on July 3. This Early English Gothic structure was designed by Schenck and Williams, the local architectural firm also responsible for other Dayton landmarks such as Oakwood High School, the Wright family home Hawthorn Hill, and the Engineers Club of Dayton. Here is a view from near the corner of Salem Avenue and Harvard Boulevard ...
... and here’s another from a bit farther up Salem.
Inside, one finds a setting that invites worshippers to draw nearer to God. The prophets’ hallway, spanning the length of the sanctuary, is aptly named ...
...and is typified by this trio of windows depicting Abraham, Moses, and Elijah.
Within the sanctuary proper, stained glass surrounds us ... ... and the Last Supper, at the very front on high, recalls Jesus’ passion. As acolytes finish lighting the candles, we see our congregation beginning to gather in the sanctuary for our traditional Sunday worship service.
Choirs of children and adults sing praises to our God!
The choir processed into the sanctuary on Easter morning, 2005.
Fellowship HallFellowship Hall hosts our brief informal Sunday morning worship service and many other activities.
Activities Building -- GymnasiumGrace’s activities building and gymnasium is suitable for basketball and a host of other events.
Elsewhere around Grace ChurchOur Ladies’ Parlor provides a peaceful setting for meetings and Sunday school classes.
The nearby Bishop’s Chapel also hosts Sunday school classes.
Grace’s library doubles as a Sunday school and meeting room.
The parlor, located directly beneath our sanctuary ...
...hosts a variety of celebrations.
